Nymphaea lotus "Green" is found naturally in tropical Africa in stagnant water bodies. It is commonly called the "Green Tiger Lotus" and is one of the most popular species of its genus to be kept in an aquarium.

It requires bright lights and a rich substrate in order to thrive, but otherwise makes few other demands in an aquarium. Intense lights will make the plant stay low, otherwise it grows tall in search of light.

Constant trimming can be done to make its leaves stay low. It makes an attractive centerpiece in an aquarium.
